FAQ

Migration FAQs

Everything you need to know before you get started.

Is website migration really free?

Yes. Website migration is free on every GiddyHost hosting plan, whether you have one website or a hundred.

How long does a migration take?

Simple WordPress migrations take about 6 hours, and never more than 48 hours. Depending on the size of the account and your current host, a full move can take anywhere from 1 to 48 hours.

Will my website go offline?

No. Your website stays online during the migration. Signing up doesn’t move anything until you request it, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Do I need to change my DNS?

Yes. During the move we’ll ask you to point your domain to our name servers. DNS changes take 24–48 hours to take effect.

When should I cancel my old hosting?

We suggest keeping your old hosting account active for at least a week after the move. Cancel only the hosting, not your domain registration.

Still have questions?

Our team is available 24/7 on live chat, phone and email.
